Seven Ate Nine

A fast-paced trick-taking card game where animals eat each other! Lower numbered cards eat higher ones in a twisted food chain. Play your cards wisely - the last player standing wins the trick, but get eaten and you lose everything!

2-5 Players | 15-30 Minutes | Ages 10+

The Food Chain

Lower cards eat higher cards! Memorize the chain:

2 eats A

3 eats K

4 eats Q

5 eats J

6 eats 10

7 eats 9

8 = Already Ate - Can't eat or be eaten (neutral)

7 = Apex Predator - Nothing eats a 7!

Your Actions

MEET Same rank, any suit - shifts suit to yours
BEAT Higher rank, same suit - suit stays
EAT Play its eater card, any suit - shifts suit
YEET Discard 1 card face down to stay in
RETREAT Leave the trick, keep your cards

Setup

Ask for an 8 to start. If none played, dealer leads any card.

Winning

Last player to play wins the trick
Winner: Draw 1, score 1 from hand face down
Still in at trick's end but didn't win? Lose ALL your cards!
After each trick, discard/draw back to hand limit
First to 3 tricks wins the game!
